There are three types of mission that Simeon Network members are encouraged to engage in, aligned with the three strategies identified above: campus-based cross-cultural ministry, overseas mission, and public engagement. As academics who follow Jesus, we are all engaging in cross-cultural ministry with each of these strategies.
The Missions Support ministry of the Simeon Network could facilitate implementation of mission by offering support to members in the three categories described above.
The Missions Support ministry of the Simeon Network could promote mission in the following ways:
‘Academic mission’ is still not clearly defined. For our purposes, the following categories help to identify three ways that Simeon Network members might become involved in overseas academic mission.
As a network, one of our aims is to see the Gospel go out among the nations. One of the ways we can do this is by going to the nations when we have opportunity as academics, and taking the Gospel with us.
My husband Erik and I are facilitating the missions portfolio of the network, thinking through what it looks like to serve the Kingdom as academics beyond Australia, and what it looks like as a network to support those who do go.
